Coach Sorenson took over as Head Coach for the Mustangs in 2009. In 2012, Sorenson lead the mustangs to the most successful season in program history. The mustangs finished the season with a program best 13-4-4 record. In her 3 seasons with the mustangs, they have reached the playoffs twice doubling the previous playoff appearance prior to her tenure. Sorenson was a junior college standout at Sierra College in Rocklin before earning a scholarship to play at CSU Stanislaus. Despite only competing there for two seasons, Sorenson left her mark on the record books where she is on all time record lists in career assists, single season assists and points, single match points, and game-winning goals. In 2008 during her senior campaign, Sorenson lead the warriors in points with 18 and was a key member of a front line who set school records in goals and points. Sorenson graduated from CSU Stanislaus in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and graduated from CSU Bakersfield in spring 2012 with a master's degree in education. She holds her NCAA regional and advanced regional diplomas and will complete her national diploma in January 2014. She is also a proud member of the alliance of women's coaches. Sorenson enjoys teaching both on the field and in the classroom. She was recently hired as an associate professor in health education at Delta College. She is excited to continue to grow the Delta women's soccer program and enjoys sharing her own successful junior college experience with her players and helping them move on to the next level. Her goal is to help each player set their own goals and find the right school to fit their needs academically and athletically.
"The most rewarding part of my job is watching my players reach their goals. Seeing them progress in their short time here and move on to bigger and better is the best feeling. For me it’s about using the game as a vehicle for success in life and when the players 'get it' they don't just play well they excel in all areas. Oh and the fact they are a blast to coach and win with is great to! I have the best job out there, period!"
