Coach Sorenson took over as Head Coach for the Mustangs in 2010. In 2012, Sorenson lead the mustangs to the most successful season in program history. The mustangs finished the season with a program best 13-4-4 record. In her time with the program they have now reached the Nor Cal regional playoffs in the last 4 consecutive seasons and have had winning records in each of those seasons.
Sorenson herself was a junior college standout at Sierra College in Rocklin before earning a scholarship to play at CSU Stanislaus. Despite only competing at CSU Stan for two seasons, Sorenson left her mark on the record books where she is on all time record lists in career assists, single season assists and points, single match points, and game-winning goals. In 2008 during her senior campaign, Sorenson lead the warriors in points with 18 and was a key member of a front line who set school records in goals and points. Sorenson graduated from CSU Stanislaus in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and graduated from CSU Bakersfield in 2012 with a master’s degree in education. She holds her NSCAA regional and advanced regional diplomas and will complete her national diploma in January 2015. She is also a proud member of the Alliance of Women’s coaches. Sorenson enjoys teaching both on the field and in the classroom. She was recently hired as an associate professor in Kinesiology at Delta College. She is excited to continue to grow the Delta women’s soccer program and enjoys sharing her own successful junior college experience with her players and helping them move on to the next level. Her goal is to help each player set their own goals and find the right University that fits their needs academically and athletically. There are 14 former Mustangs currently competing at 4-year Universities and Sorenson loves nothing more than following their success. Over her past 4 years at the helm there is a 92% sophomore transfer rate to 4-year Universities and many move on to play at the next level. Her current sophomore class of 8 will all be transferring this coming fall 2015 and 6 of the 8 have already committed to play at 4-year Universities with scholarships.
“The most rewarding part of my job is watching my players reach their goals. Seeing them progress in their short time here and move on to bigger and better is the best feeling. I've been where they are having played at a JC and I feel that I am someone my players can relate to easily. For me coaching is about using the game as a vehicle for success in life and when the players ‘get it’ they don’t just play well they excel in all areas. Oh and the fact they are a blast to coach and win with is great to! I have the best job out there, period!”
Assistant Coach, Alexia Poon (2015)

She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and plans to pursue her Master’s Degree in fall 2015. Coach Poon also specializes in strength and conditioning.
Coach Donofrio brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Mustangs.
