San Joaquin Delta College offers the following Health Education courses:
H ED 1 Health Education: Units 3
This course is designed to enhance the student’s knowledge of a variety of health-related concepts and increase motivation and desire to take personal responsibility to achieve high-level wellness. (UC, CSU)
H ED 15 Selected Topics: Health Education: Units 1-2
This course is designed to offer instruction in one of the specialized areas of health education not already covered by existing curricula. (CSU)
H ED 28 Community Health: Units 2
This course is designed to study health related services and resources available in the college district and how they impact on current health issues and problems faced by the populace of the district. Particular emphasis is placed on substance abuse, mental health, AIDS, child abuse, HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations), nontraditional medical treatment, family wellness, and cancer. (UC, CSU)
H ED 30 Community First Aid and Safety: Units 2
This course is the American National Red Cross course, Community First Aid and Safety. The student receives the Community First Aid and Safety and Community CPR certificates upon successful completion of the course. The course may be repeated for credit once every three years. (UC, CSU)
H ED 31 Emergency Response: Units 3
This course is the American Red Cross course, Emergency Response. Those who qualify receive the American Red Cross Emergency Response and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificates. The course may be repeated for credit once every three years. (CSU)
H ED 32 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Units 0.5
This course is designed to prepare participant, through knowledge and skill development, to meet the needs of most situations in which emergency first aid care for cardiopulmonary resuscitation is needed and medical assistance is not excessively delayed. The course may be repeated for credit once per year. This is an open entry, open exit course. (CSU)
H ED 50H Special Studies: Health Education: Units 1-2
This course is open to the student qualified to do advanced work in the field. The course includes research, directed reading, fieldwork, or other advanced study, and the course may be repeated for a maximum total of four units. (CSU)
H ED 80 Selected Topics: Health Education: Units 0.5-3
This course is designed to offer instruction in one or more of the specialized areas of health education not already covered by the existing curriculum. Units in this course do not count toward an associate degree.
