MEN'S & WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COACHING STAFF
Head Coach, Lauryn Jordan
Lauryn Jordan, a former Heptathlete for the Oregon Ducks, began as the San Joaquin Delta Mustang Head Coach for men's and women's cross country in 2010.
“ As a graduate and a former student-athlete at Delta, I am extremely excited to lead a program that has been such a big part of my life,” Jordan said. “I’m approaching this second year with the attitude of reaching back into history and bringing back the once state contending team and carrying on that tradition that was once set. I most definitely look forward to taking this team to a higher level of excellence than ever before.”
Coach Jordan’s served two years as an Assistant Coach at Northern Arizona University. During her two years at NAU, the Lumberjacks captured three Big Sky Track and Field team Conference Championships. Her experience had a significant role in the return to conference prominence in the jumps, hurdles, and multi-event athletes. Her assistance helped guide Ryan Eck to a fifth place finish at the 2008 Big Sky Outdoor Championships in the Decathlon. Eck became the first Lumberjack since Nils Wiklund in 2000 to score in the event.
Jordan competed at University of Oregon from 2005 to 2007, after winning the JUCO Heptathlon (two consecutive years), Long Jump, and Triple Jump at the State Championship in 2004 for San Joaquin Delta College. As a Duck, she recorded her personal bests in the Triple Jump (43-2) Long jump (20-11), High Jump (5-10) and Heptathlon (5499). Jordan became a two-time All-American in the Heptathlon and Long Jump.
Assistant Coach, Don Tisher
Don Tisher is currently in his first season of coaching Cross Country at Delta College and brings an array of talent to the Delta College Cross Country coaching staff. On top of his 35 years of coaching experience, he is a retiree of the San Joaquin County Sheriffs Dept. Don started coaching when he was 18 years old and a student at Delta College. He has coached multiple sports including Baseball, Soccer, Football, Track & Field and Cross Country ranging from youth to college level. Along with his position at Delta College, he also is currently coaching at East Union High School in Manteca. Coach Tisher has been called an “athlete’s coach”. He relates to each player and treats them with respect. He is interested in developing the whole person which includes: skills relevant for winning, a competitive spirit and most importantly good sportsmanship/citizenship.
Volunteer Assistant, Colin Hohn
As an Alum of Delta College Hohn begins his first season of Coaching Cross Country at Delta College and brings years of experience to the program. As the current Head Track and Field Coach at Saint Mary's High School Hohn has has had success.Under his guidance the girl's earned 6 League Titles of out the 8 years he has been coaching.
As a Collegian, Hohn competed at Delta College under Coach Raydell Barkley and earned state qualification as a team for Cross Country.
After earning his Bachelors of Arts, History and Social Science credential at Chico State he now teaches Social Sciences at Saint Mary's High School.
