Prep Career: Jessica started four years of Varsity basketball at Galt High School earning a San Joaquin Valley Conference Championship during the 2006 (junior) season. She scored 16.9 points per game and averaged 4.7 steals per game. Jessica’s ability to pass the ball made her standout in her league as she led the CIF section in assists at 5.8 per game. Jessica was named to the San Joaquin Valley Conference 1st Team All-League Team and the Galt Girls Basketball team MVP for three consecutive years (2005, 2006, 2007). As a senior, she was named to the Sacramento Optimist All-Star Team and the All-Metro Honorable Mention Team.
At Delta College (2008-09): Jessica started last season as a point guard and become a great ball controller for the Mustangs. She earned Big 8 Honorable Mention honors as a freshman. “JD” is a real competitor who brings that intensity to the gym every day. She is expected to be a leader this season as the Mustangs rebuild this year.
Personal: Jessica was born on November 29, 1989 to Jeff and Marilyn Dela Cruz in Sacramento, California. She took an interest for basketball in the 3rd grade. When she is not playing basketball, she works and plays more basketball. She is what most people call a “gym rat”. After she earns her AA degree from Delta she would like to earn a basketball scholarship to a four-year university.
