Getting to Know A.J.

Nickname:  AJ/ Apple Jacks

What is your most significant achievement in basketball?  Scoring 16 points in 3 minutes.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?  Complete a ropes course last year with the team.

Who is your hero and why?  My mommy because she is strong and a great role model who has led me in the right direction.

Favorite Food:  My mom’s spaghetti

What is your best non-athletic talent?  Singing and dancing

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?  Having a beautiful family, married with kids and happy

If you could invite 5 people over for dinner, who would it be?  My family: Mom, Dad and three sisters.


Anjanette Henderson #22

Position:  Guard

Height:  5’7”

High School:  Bear Creek

Hometown:  Stockton

Major:  Computer Science/Graphic Design

Prep Career:  “A.J.” was a team leader in all statistical categories during her senior year for the Bear Creek Lady Bruins.  She played for Coach Cynthia Phipps for two years of Varisty Basketball.  A.J. averaged 15 points, 4 assists, 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocked shots a game.  She was the recipient of numerous awards such as Tri-Valley Athletic League 1st Team and Best Offensive Player for the Lady Bruins basketball team.  She played in the Prove-It All-Star Game and was a finalist in the 3 point competition.

Delta College (2006-07):  A.J.  was a reserve guard for the 2007 Big 7 Championship squad.  As a freshman she shared time with a sophomore-laden team (11 sophomores) and was a vocal leader who always brought her full attention and work ethic every day.  A.J. is expected to be a strong leader this season as she is one of our team captains. 

Personal:  A.J. was born on August 12, 1988 to Bennie and Debra Henderson in Vallejo, California. She began playing basketball when she was 10 years old and her father has been the most influential person in her basketball career A.J. loves hanging out with her friends and family, eating, playing basketball and shopping.  Her academic goals is to maintain a 3.0 or higher and transfer to a four-year institution.  A.J. wants to lead her team to another Big 8 Conference Championship and advance to the California State Tournament.
