Prep Career: Amaris played her senior season for Coach Robb Spencer at Modesto Christian High School. She averaged 7 points per game, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals as a senior. Amaris helped lead her Modesto Christian team to become the 2006-07 Division V Section Champions. In addition, they were the Trans Valley League Champions. Amaris earned a first quarter 4.0 Award as a senior and held a 3.8 GPA in 2006-07. As a junior, she played Varsity basketball at Modesto High and was the 2nd team All-League forward for the Modesto Metro Conference. Amaris also played two years of club basketball for the Modesto Magic travel team for Coach Robb Spencer.
At Delta College (2007-08): Amaris was a reserve post last season as a freshman behind two sophomore all-state starters. Her early season injury to her ankle gave her a late start to the season. Amaris will be a force inside the paint this season for the Lady Mustangs.
Personal: Amaris was born on September 12, 1989 to Jerry Sanders and Xilonen Martinez in Modesto, California. She began playing basketball when she was 10 years old. Her former high school coach (Robb Spencer) has been the most influential person in her basketball career. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and singing. Amaris would like to transfer to a four-year institution and continue playing basketball by earning a scholarship. After earning a BA in Psychology, Amaris would like to be a psychologist for children.
