Why Choose Delta College?

  • Facilities:

With the new rennovation of Nick Cecchetti Field, the Mustangs now have the nicest facility in California. The synthetic "FieldTurf" field allows the Mustangs to practice and play when other teams cannot.

  • Coaching:

Everyone of our coaches has coached and/or competed at the NCAA Division 1 level. Head Coach Reed Peters has been named Coach of the Year five times including the NCAA Mountain West Conference in 2002. Coach Peters has also played seven years of professional baseball. Pitching Coach Denny Peterson has coached at UOP. Catching Coach Matt Wilson has coached at Sacramento State.

  • Big 8 Conference:

The Mustangs compete in the best conference in California. The Big 8 Conference had the highest power rating of all the conferences in California. Both Final Four teams from Northern California (Delta and DVC). Four of the Elite Eight teams were from the Big 8 (Delta, DVC, CRC, Sierra). Five out of eight schools made it to the Regional tournament this year and all eight teams were ranked in the top 25. This means you will face great competition on a daily basis.

  • Exposure:

Being centrally located in California, playing on an all weather field, and playing against top competion attracts many professional scouts and college coaches to the Delta campus. Many big recruiting events such as the Area Code tryouts are held at Nick Cecchetti Field.

  • Academics/Transfer:

Our goal is to prepare you academically and athletically to move on to the next level. Coach Peters' teams have won the California Community College Scolar Team Award twice in the last four years while compiling team GPA's of 3.41 and 3.12. Delta College ranks 2nd in community colleges in the number of associate degrees earned.

  • Climate

Stockton enjoys some of the best weather in the country. The climate for Stockton is temperate, with warm dry days and cool nights in the summer. The average high temperature is 74 degrees. Winter is usually mild with rare freezing temperatures. Some light rain falls during the winter months.
