DEFINITION

Under the supervision and direction from the Nursing Skills Lab Instructor, perform a variety of duties in the preparation and set up of Nursing Skills Labs; to clean and maintain assigned equipment; and to receive and maintain an inventory of Skills Lab equipment and supplies.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Nursing Skills Lab Instructor and/or Nursing Student Success Program Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS

Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.  Set up, operate and maintain a variety of Skills Lab equipment and resources.

2.  Receive, issue, store and maintain Skills Lab materials.

3.  Maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment and materials; ensure that items delivered are       correct; maintain related purchasing records.

4.  Work with Skills Lab faculty to ensure that Skills Labs have an adequate stock of materials, equipment and suppplies.

Knowledge of :

• Principles and procedures of record keeping.
• Principles and practices of inventory control.

Ability to:

• Operate, maintain and clean Skills Lab equipment, supplies and materials.
• Maintain a variety of files and records.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students and staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Conditions:

Essential and other important duties may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; moderate lifting and carrying.
