DEFINITION
This position provides basic clerical support for the EOPS/CARE programs including filing and performing a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position requires student employees to be timely, responsible and accuntable to their immediate supervisor. Student employees receive direct supervision and oversight and will receive trining as new or unusual situations arise. Student employees must be fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Employees receive direct supervision from their assigned supervisory staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS
Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed logs and records; verify the accuracy of information received; research and correct discrepancies; record information.
- Act as a receptionist; answer the telephone and assist students and the general public, providing information on departmental and College policies and procedures as required.
- Obtain, compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate software and application required.
- Provide applicable forms to students and the public as needed; apply departmental policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, forms, records and reports, refer student to necessary services.
- Operate a variety of office equipment including copiers, postage meters, facsimile machines and computers; input and retrieve data and text; organize and maintain disk storage and filing systems.
- Maintain, order, receive and organize office materials and supplies; pick up and deliver materials from various offices as required.
- Distribute incoming and outgoing mail; prepare bulk mailing as assigned.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Office environment; exposure to computer screens.
Physical Conditions:
Essential duties may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; extensive use of computer keyboard. |
