Applying for a Tutoring Position

Welcome to the Reading/Writing Learning Center! 

We are happy that you are interested in working as a tutor at San Joaquin Delta College. 

The RWLC has three different areas for tutoring:
                    the Writing Lab,the Reading Lab, and the Tutoring Center. 

Position requirements and responsibilities vary with the area you are working in.

Here is a list of all the things you need to do to apply for a tutoring position.
                        Fill out a RWLC application folder
                        Interview with the RWLC Coordinator
                        Provide your Delta College academic history
                        Check that you are qualified to work as a tutor
                               For the Writing Lab
                                        Have completed English 1A with an A or B grade
                                        Have completed English 1B or 1D with an A or B grade                                                              For the Reading Lab
                                        Have completed English 1A
                               For the Tutoring Center
                                        Have completed the course you want to tutor with an A or B grade
                                        Courses must have been taken no more than 3 semesters ago

                          Complete a SJDelta College Human resources application
                          Take  a TB Test
                          Complete a Livescan fingerprinting background check

Once approved for work, you should enroll in English 32A, 32B, or 32C fora two-unit tutor training course (see English 32 page).
