What is a Learning Disability (LD)?

Learning disabled (LD) students have a life-long condition which affects language related skills such as:

  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Spelling
  • Math

Other areas of insufficiency may include:

  • Problem solving
  • Organizational skills
  • English second language (ESL)
  • Time management
  • Attention and concentration
  • Self-esteem
  • Social interactions

When given the opportunity to learn, and when provided with proper support, LD students are often able to overcome their limitations and succeed in an academic setting and reach their projected goals.
