What are Student Learning Outcomes?
Student learning outcomes ( SLOs)  are specific statements that describe the knowledge (what students will know), skills (what students will be able to do or demonstrate) and, what students are expected to learn as a result of their successful completion of a course or program.

  1. Students are knowledgeable of the role of the educational planning in overall academic success.

  1. Students are able to identify individual barriers and educational and functional/educational limitations that result from their disability as accommodations and services that mitigate those limitations.
  2. Students are able to advocate for themselves and effectively articulate accommodation needs.
Number of students that can articulate functional/educational limitations and appropriate accommodations will increase annually.

Number of students that demonstrate an ability to self-advocate will increase annually.

 

Why Are Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) Important?

Specific learning objectives help instructors achieve clarity about what they want to accomplish in their classes.

Specific learning objectives make it easierfor instructors to assess how well the process of teaching and learning is progressing.

Specific learning objectives aid in student learning because students know, from the beginning, the goals of the course.

 

Specific learning objectives give students a way to think about and talk about what they are learning.

Specific learning objectives make it easier for students to assess how well their process of learning   is progressing.
