New or Returning Students: You are on Step 3 of the Five Easy Steps of the enrollment process at Delta College.

The purpose of academic assessment is to ensure that students have a productive and rewarding educational experience at Delta College. It is important that students get involved with coursework in which they can be successsful. All assessments utilized and described below adhere to Matriculation standards governing their application including the use of multiple measures. Assessment results place students in an academic level in reading, writing, and math. Assessment exams are offered before and throughout the term.

If you know the exam you wish to take, click on the appropriate blue button to the top left to get specific exam dates and times. If not, please keep reading.

New and non-exempt students are required to go through the Assessment COMPASS Evaluation (ACE) program. ACE combines both an academic skills assessment using a computerized test called COMPASS (Windows version) with information regarding assessment results and explains the next step in the registration process.  For test dates and times Schedule an Appointment. Your Delta ID number is required to access ACE appointment. Go to the Internet Registration System to Retrieve Your Delta ID Number.

CELSA is a paper/pencil exam taken by English as a Second Language (ESL) students for proper placement into courses.

i COMPASS is a computerized exam (internet version) taken by students seeking to qualify for federal financial aid monies to satisfy Ability to Benefit (ATB) regulations. These students are referred to the test by the Financial Aid department.

i COMPASS - ESL is a computerized exam (internet version) taken by ESL students seeking to qualify for federal financial aid monies to satisfy Ability to Benefit (ATB) regulations. 

Students may retake their initial assessments at scheduled Retake Exam times. Appointments are not required.  Retake results are available on the Assessment Level History screen. ESL students may retake their CELSA.  Please refer to the CELSA page for more information on retaking this assessment.
