Gary Barlow
Professor
Bio:
A.A., San Joaquin Delta College, Stockton, California
B.A., University of the Pacific, Stockton, California

A Tracy High School product, Coach Barlow’s playing career included stints at the University of Wyoming (1985-86), Delta College (1987), and the University of the Pacific (1988-89). Following graduation from UOP, he signed a contract to play for the NFL’s New York Giants. He finished his playing days as a member of the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe.

Since that time, Coach Barlow has built an impressive coaching resume. He began his coaching career at Delta College as Offensive Line Coach (1990-91). The following year he moved to Los Angeles Valley College serving as Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator until 1996. LA Valley emerged as one of the top junior college programs in the United States, playing for the national championship during this span. In 1997 he was named Head Football Coach.

Gary returned to Delta College in 1999 as Offensive Coordinator. His presence and influence was immediately felt. In his initial year the Mustang offense ranked in California’s top ten in every offensive category.

Dominique Bukasa
Adjunct Associate Professor
B.A., Sonoma State, California
M.A., Fresno Pacific University, California
Bio:
The 2012-13 season will mark Dominique Bukasa’s first year as an Assistant Coach at Delta College. He joins Coach Ressa's staff after spending the 2011-2012 season as the Head Coach of Lassen College. Prior to Lassen College he was an NCAA Division I Assistant Coach at Sacramento State University from 2008 to 2011 for former Delta College and Junior College Hall of Fame Coach Brian Katz. His duties with the Hornets included recruiting, scouting, player development, academic mentor and game scheduling.

Bukasa, who has over 10 years of coaching experience, worked as an Assistant Coach for Ed Madec from 2005-2008 at the College of Siskiyous and Fresno City College. At the College of Siskiyous he helped coach the Eagles to a 27-5 record and a No. 1 ranking in the state for nine consecutive weeks in the 2005-06 season. That marked the first time in school history that the College of Siskiyous had received the top ranking in the State. The next two years at Fresno City College he was part of the coaching staff that won the 2007 California Community College State Tournament Championship, back-to-back Central Valley Conference titles and State Final 8 appearances with a 62-16 combined record.

Bukasa graduated from Sonoma State in 1999 with a degree in history, and a minor in political science. He graduated in July of 2008 with a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University.

Randy Gaines
Professor
Bio:
M.Ed., M.S., University of LaVerne, California
B.A., B.S., San Jose State University, California

As a demonstration of Delta College’s commitment to academics and athletics, Randy Gaines was named to his present post as Academic Counselor, Running Backs in 2001.  His duties include academic advising and coordinating study hall and tutorial services for all of Delta’s student-athletes.

Randy’s background has been ideal in preparing him for this position.  He came to Delta in 1981.  In addition to having earned two graduate degrees (one in counseling), Coach Gaines coached both football and track at the college until 1997.  He gave up his track coaching duties when he was named Head Football Coach prior to the 1997 season.

Coach Gaines led the program for four years (1997-2000).  Fittingly his last game as Head Coach was a post-season bowl appearance in the Merced Elk’s Bowl in December 2000.

Since assuming his present duties Coach Gaines has overseen an academic support and monitoring process which has achieved spectacular success.  Since 2001, a total of sixty-five Mustang football players have been accorded Academic All-Conference honors.
