It is recommended that you complete the online application for a faster turn-around time.
Can I apply Online? not being used now
The electronic FAFSA is available through FAFSA on the Web. You may file electronically on campus or from your home computer.
We suggest that you have the the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet completed prior to completing the FAFSA online to avoid mishaps and have your tax information close by for reference.
How do I fill it out? not being used now
Workshops are available for those in need of assistance completing the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet & paper FAFSA. Go to the Electronic Enrollment Services Lab to sign up for a one-on-one Financial Aid workshop.

When is it due? not being used now
You can file your FAFSA anytime between January 1st, preceding the academic year you will attend, and June 30th, the close of the academic year. However, there is a priority date set by SJDC and the state if you are applying for state grants. The priority date is determined by the submission date of your FAFSA, you must submit your FAFSA before midnight of the deadline date. Generally the deadline is:
the 1st week of March between the 1st and 4th. Also see the Important Dates section of this site for the specific deadline date.Because some of the grants have limited funding, they are awarded on a first come first serve basis, not meeting the deadline will mean you may receive less financial aid. Where do I send it? not being used now
You must file your FAFSA with the federal processor, either by completing the FAFSA on the Web or by mail.
Mail your paper FAFSA to the federal processor in the envelope provided in the application booklet.
What is a SAR?
After the Department of Education processes your application, you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR outlines the information you provided on the FAFSA and reports your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
If it's been more than three weeks since you submitted your application and you haven't received anything, you can check on the status of your application at FAFSA on the Web or by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at:
What should I do with my SAR? not being used now
When you receive your SAR, review the information to ensure it is accurate and complete. If there are no corrections to the SAR, simply maintain it for your records. If corrections are necessary, you have the following options:
Make the corrections on the SAR. Sign the SAR and send both pages back to the processor at the address provided.
Make the corrections online through FAFSA on the Web, even if you didn't apply using the electronic application. You will need your Department of Education PIN to access your record. Your PIN will also serve as your signature. A parental signature (PIN) is required when parental data is changed on the application. You may make changes to all information except social security number and date of birth.
Bring your signed (remember parent's signature is required if your SAR contains parental information) SAR and any related documentation to the financial aid office in DeRicco Student Services Building FINANCIAL AID WINDOWS (Main Entrance Foyer).
How will I know what documents to submit?
To find out what forms are required to complete your file click on the Documents tab, download the forms by going to the Forms tab.
Who do I submit the documents to? not being used now
Bring (DeRicco Student Services Building FINANCIAL AID WINDOWS (Main Entrance Foyer)) or mail any requested documents and completed forms to the Financial Aid office,. Once we have reviewed your file and determine your eligibility you will receive an award notice sent to your Delta College e-mail address.

When are the documents due? Is there a deadline? not being used now
April 2*, prior to the academic year you will attend is the priority deadline for submitting requested file documentation to SJDC (to complete your file).
If you submit the documents after the priority date you will be considered a late applicant and are less likely to receive certain grants due to funding limitations.
*It is important to submit your FAFSA before March 2nd each year in order to meet the SJDC priority deadline.
When will I receive my Award Notice & Payment Schedule?
Once you have submitted the requested documents, your file is reviewed and your financial need is determined, an Award Notice will be e-mailed to you, you will be directed to Delta's Online Financial Aid System where you will log in using your Delta ID & PIN to access your Award Information and Payment Schedule.
When you receive your Award Notice depends on the date you completed your file, the accuracy of the information you've provided and whether you've been selected for verification.
What does the Award Notice Tell Me? not being used now
When you receive your financial aid Award Notice, READ it carefully, including the TERMS OF OFFER and the Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines. Failure to abide by the Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines will result in Warning or termination (disqualification) of the aid offer.
The Award Notice will direct you to Delta's Online Financial Aid System to view your financial aid awards and payment schedule.
Note also that your Payment Schedule will indicate the dates the checks will be mailed to you and not the actual dates you receive your financial aid checks in the mail.
Your Financial Aid check(s) will be mailed to you at the address you have on file in the Admissions and Records Office. If it is not correct, you must submit a Change of Address in DeRicco Student Services Building FINANCIAL AID WINDOWS (Main Entrance Foyer) or e-mail your change of address to the Office of Financial Aid & Veterans Services.
CHECKS WILL NOT BE FORWARDED.
What if Delta's Online Financial Aid System doesn't show a Payment Schedule for me?
If a Payment Schedule portion does not appear on your Award Section of Delta's Online Financial Aid System , more than likely you have only been awarded an award which doesn't require direct disbursement to you.
Such an award or grant may be in the form of an Ennoblement Fee Waiver which is paid directly to the Admissions, Records and Registration Office.
Keeping Your Financial Aid Eligibility not being used now
Each semester, your academic transcript will be reviewed to check your progress toward your academic objective. Students who fail to meet minimum satisfactory academic progress as detailed in the Terms of Offer and Financial Aid Academic Progress Guidelines will be placed on Financial Aid Warning. Failure to make progress during two consecutive semesters could disqualify a student from receiving any further assistance.
Students must also complete their academic objective within an allowable time frame. Generally students who are eligible to receive financial aid will continue to do so until they reach the 90 unit maximum.
Students must reapply for financial aid every academic year. It is not automatically renewed.
Loss of Financial Aid Eligibility not being used now
Loss of Financial Aid Eligibility, indicates that you are currently not eligible receive financial aid funding.
Students who fail to meet minimum satisfactory academic progress (completing at least 67% of the units attempted with a cumulative C average) as detailed in the Terms of Offer and Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines during two consecutive semesters are disqualified resulting in the loss of financial aid eligibility.
Students must also complete their academic objective within an allowable time frame. Generally students who are eligible to receive financial aid will continue to do so until they reach the 90 unit maximum at the community college level.
Regaining your Financial Aid Eligibility not being used now
Once financial aid has been denied for lack of satisfactory progress, a student may be removed from Financial Aid Disqualification status and placed on Financial Aid Warning (eligible to receive financial aid funds) status based on one of the following:
Students may appeal both Financial Aid Warning and Financial Aid Disqualification if there were unusual or mitigating circumstances that affected the student's ability to make progress.
