Prerequisite Skills: 1. Advisory Reading Level II.

This course is a review of the historical development and philosophy of law and constitutional provisions, definitions, classification of crime, and their application to the system of administration of justice, legal research, study of case law, methodology, and concepts of law as a social force. . The completion of this course offers a foundation upon which upper-division criminal justice course will build. The course will also include some limited discussion of prosecution and defense decision making, criminal culpability, and defenses to crimes. (UC, CSU,)
