College Early Start Program
Important Information Regarding Enrollment in Physical Education Courses:
California Legislature passed legislation limiting the enrollment of high school students in physical education classes. Delta College limits the percentage of high school students to 5% in any one physical education course. As a result, very few high school students will be eligible to enroll in physical education courses at the College. Therefore, students should plan on enrolling in physical education classes at their high school and seek only college enrichment courses at Delta College.
Only students officially enrolled during the registration cycle before the term begins will be allowed to attend physical education classes. Under no circumstances will students be permitted to register for any physical education courses once the term begins.
1. Complete a San Joaquin Delta College Application for Admission
All students must complete an Online Application for Admission. Free computer access is available in the E-Services Lab located in the DeRicco Student Services Building, Room 149. The lab is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 pm. If you need assistance completing the application, you may contact the Application Hotline at 954-5151 ext 6191.
Your Application for Admission will be processed in 3-5 business days. Once it is processed, a student identification number and a student e-mail address will be assigned to you. To obtain your student ID and e-mail address, you need to complete Step 2 of the Steps to Success.
2. Complete a College Early Start Enrollment Form
Students applying to attend Delta College through the College Early Start Program (high school students who are not graduates), must also submit a College Early Start Enrollment Form signed by the parent/legal guardian, the high school principal and the high school counselor. Home-schooled students must also provide a Private School Affidavit.
A College Early Start Enrollment Form and accompanying documentation is required for each term for which the student wishes to enroll. For counseling, financial aid, and course prerequisite purposes, it is highly recommended that you submit a current high school transcript. All forms and transcripts should be submitted to the Admissions & Records Office, DeRicco Student Services Building.
College Early Start students should work closely with their high school counselor to select appropriate courses. A student who works closely with the counselor can make significant progress towards both a high school diploma and college degree at the same time.
New and non-exempt students are required to go through the Assessment COMPASS Evaluation (ACE) program.
ACE combines both academic skills assessment using a computerized test called COMPASS with information regarding understanding assessment scores and explains the next step in the registration process.
For test dates and times Schedule an Appointment. Your Delta ID number is required to access ACE appointment. You must provide a picture I.D. and your Delta I.D. number at the time of assessment (no exceptions).
Registration means enrolling in courses. You must have an online application and assessment testing, if necessary, must be completed prior to registration. To obtain a registration date and time or to register for classes go to www.deltacollege.edu and click on Online Registration. Fees are due at the time of registration. Payments may be made by MasterCard/Visa online at the time of registration or by check/money order mailed to: 5151 Pacific Ave, Box 102, Stockton, CA 95207. Access to student records and future registration is prohibited until all fees are paid in full.
New "Pay to Stay" Procedure - Fees are due at the time of registration. Students who have not paid their fees or applied for the BOG waiver (CA residents only) will be disenrolled 10 college days after registration.
Under Section 49061 of the Education Code, parents of community college students do not have a right of access to their children’s records, regardless of whether the student is under the age of 18. Students admitted under the College Early Start Program are expected to handle activities the same as regularly admitted college students. These activities include, but are not limited to: enrollment, payment of fees, adding/dropping classes, requesting transcripts, etc.
At the end of the semester after all grades have been posted, each high school will receive a list of all students, the course(s) in which they enrolled and the grade(s) received. Please note, if these courses are needed for high school graduation requirements, a transcript may need to be requested in order to provide the information to the school sooner than the report. Transcripts may be ordered in the Admissions and Records Office, DeRicco Building, Lobby, or via the internet. Please refer to Transcripts. Some high schools will accept unofficial transcripts otherwise known as Academic Histories. Academic histories can be obtained via the internet through the Online Registration process.
