General Library Services:

Resources and Services
? Outcome: The student will be able to recognize the Library?s services and resources (including the library catalog, online databases, physical collections, and on- and off-campus service points) that are available to support new, revised, or existing courses, both on-and off-campus.
1. Assessment:? Students use research tools effectively in the Reference Department and online off-campus, as measured by student satisfaction surveys, observation by reference librarians, and statistics on off-campus database usage.
2. Assessment: Through curriculum review process and annual review of collection development
? Outcome: The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully use library services and resources that have been provided in sufficient depth, variety, format, and level to satisfy their information needs.
1. Assessment: From reference desk interactions and observations, workshops evaluations, and written and verbal feedback from course-integrated instruction, determine what library services and resources patrons utilize and how they utilize them toward their academic success.
? Outcome: Having inquired at the circulation desk and interacted with staff, the student will be able to demonstrate the awareness of library circulation policies and procedures.
1. Assessment: ?Feedback from circulation staff concerning changes in student knowledge of library policies regarding the check-out, care and return of library property and fees/fines information.? Librarians? and circulation staff feedback in regard to types of questions asked concerning the procedures involved in the loan of items through the textbook loan program, the acquisition and use of library cards, and the procedures necessary to acquire and use copy cards and copy machines.

Finding Information
? Outcome: The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to construct and express a successful search statement. This involves the development of a thesis statement, which provides descriptive search terms used to build the most appropriate search strategy to locate relevant information.
1. Assessment: Formal surveys on reference services as well as direct feedback from onsite or online students
? Outcome: The student will be able to discover, assemble, and document a collection of informational resources appropriate to their academic and personal needs.

? Outcome: The student will be able to identify the topic?s most critical issues, select appropriate information, and sort out the information retrieved.

? Outcome: The student will be able to recognize the value of library services and resources and plan to continue to use libraries for their daily lives as lifelong learners.
