Goleman Library offers the following
self-paced library and information literacy courses which are UC and CSU
transferable. They are designed to help students learn to utilize various
types of information resources and develop their library research and information
competency skills. For more information about the courses, please check

Library
Information Literacy (LIBRY 1)
is a one-unit course, which has a pre-requisite of Reading Level II. It
is designed to help the student develop information literacy skills and
to introduce the variety of information resources and information retrieval
tools available in academic libraries. The student learns how to
develop research strategies and how to utilize library resources and services
to effectively retrieve information in this self-paced course.

Advanced
Library Information Literacy (LIBRY 2) is
a two-unit course, which has a pre-requisite of LIBRY 1. It is designed
to further develop the student’s information literacy and critical thinking
skills learned in Library Information Literacy. Special emphasis
is given to the Internet as a research tool, advanced online database searching,
online searching strategies, general and specialized reference sources
in both print and electronic formats, law reference sources, and career
information.
