Delta College's Youth Empowerment Strategies for Success (YESS/ILP) program
prepares foster youth, 16-21 years of age,
for their move into independent adult living.
Students learn skills ranging from college admission and financial management,
to ironing a shirt and sewing on a button.
With increasing
problems of gang violence and drugs, more
and more youth are placed at risk.
Facing these challenges without stable,
cohesive home lives is particularly difficult
for youth in care. The YESS/ILP Program
provides a safe haven for learning, sharing
and socializing.
Classes meet Tuesday's and Thursday's
nights from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the school year. Class size is limited and
there is a waiting list for students to attend.
No walk-ins please.
