| It is a the personal identification number that is mailed to all students who complete either a paper FAFSA or an electronic FAFSA (FAFSA on the Web). You and parents (if applicable) can use it to electronically sign your FAFSA, students and parents (if applicable) must each have a PIN. If you do not have or forgot your PIN, go to the PIN Site to obtain one. Parents and first-time financial aid applicants may also apply for a PIN prior to submitting a FAFSA. When applying for the first time your name, date of birth, and Social Security Number (SSN) will be sent to the Social Security Administration (SSA). If the information you provide does not match with the SSA, you will not be able to receive a PIN. |
