TITLE: Reserved - Special Education Video -Aide Training Video #3

                                                            (MOBILITY/PERSONAL AIDE)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1.           A favorable recommendation from a disabled student, a college faculty or staff member, or a former employer.

2.           Ability to provide physical assistance to students with wide range of disabilities, including need for mobility assistance.

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:

1.           Receptive to learning new/innovative methods of assistance to students with a variety of disabilities on campus and in classrooms.

2.           Flexibility in work schedule.

3.           Attitude/personality conducive to working effectively with people with disabilities.

4.           Experience with the students with disabilities.

5.           Occupational interest in working with students with disabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.           Assist students with disabilities with on-campus travel needs.

.

2.           Assist with issuing of elevator keys to students with disabilities.

3.           Assist students with severe disabilities to access restroom facilities.

4.           Follow directions of the Mobility Center staff and Disabled Student Programs and Services staff related to student's mobility needs.

5.           Participate in in-service training as provided.

6.           Follow absence/lateness policies as indicated in the Guidelines printed on the reverse side of this page.

DIRECTIONS:

1.           Go to the Goleman Library - Audio/Visual Desk with the attached "Call Slip - [RES] HV1551. M45  1980 #3".

2.           Review the corresponding video and return to DSPS office and complete the quiz and paperwork.

MUST HAVE LIBRARY CARD TO VIEW VIDEO OR HAVE CALIFORNIA I.D./DRIVER'S LICENSE TO BE ISSUED A LIBRARY CARD.
