TITLE: RESERVED - Special Education - Aide Training Video #2                                                                                             (Adaptive Physical Education Aide)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1.           A favorable recommendation from a disabled student, a college faculty or staff member, or a former employer.

2.           Lack of any physical of other health related limitation which would inhibit physical assistance to students with disabilities.

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS:

1.           Previous experience in adaptive physical education.

2.           Previous experience in working with the students with disabilities.

3.           Attitude/personality conducive to working effectively with individuals with  disabilities.

4.           Occupational interest in working with individuals with  disabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.           Meet or accompany student to/from class on a daily basis.

.

2.           Assist students with disabilities before and after class with mobility and dressing as needed.

3.           Assist students with disabilities during class as directed by instructor in aquatic activities, individual conditioning, parcourse, and other scheduled in-class activities.

4.           Listen carefully to the instructions of the assigned class instructor and to the comments and questions of the student.

5.           Participate in in-service training as provided.

Directions:

1.           Go to the Goleman Library - Audio/Visual Desk with the attached "Call Slip - [RES]  HV1551.M45  1980 #2". 

2.           Review the corresponding video and return to DSPS office and complete the quiz and paperwork. 

MUST HAVE LIBRARY CARD TO VIEW VIDEO OR HAVE CALIFORNIA I.D./ DRIVER'S LICENSE TO BE ISSUED A LIBRARY CARD.
