Major Competency The student will demonstrate an understanding of and make responsible use of DSPS services. Dsps Activity The student will meet with a DSPS counselor and determine appropriate reasonable accommodations. The student has access to all information, forms, and contacts through the accessible DSPS website. The counselor will instruct the student on proper procedures involved in using a particular accommodation. The student will receive an instruction sheet that describes the proper procedure for using an accommodation. For example: 1. When testing accommodations are recommended the student will receive an accommodated testing instruction form that explains how and when to request and utilize the testing accommodation. 2. When a student who is deaf or hard of hearing is granted interpreting or CART services, the student will receive written instructions, as well as, signed or oral instructions on the procedures to be followed by the student. Evaluation/Assessment DSPS will keep a log of when a student requests to take a test with accommodations to determine whether an appropriate amount of lead time was given by the student. DSPS will maintain records that keep track of whether, in the event the student will be absent, a deaf or hard of hearing student has notified the DSPS office. This will allow DSPS to cancel the services of an interpreter or CART provider. |
