Carlos Chavarria has been an adjunct faculty member since 1998. Since then, Carlos has directed several plays, Pinocchio, Esno White, The Lady in Question, among others. He is one of the instructors within the Actor's Training Program where he teaches Theatre Movement, Shakespeare, Acting, Musical Theatre, and Dance Movement. He is also the director of the one-acts, which are produced twice a year in November and April. And when time permits, he also teaches Playwriting and Directing.

As an artis, Carlos is credited for directing Once on this Island, Jr., Stand Up Tragedy, Sirena, Queen of the Tango, The Serpent, Doing Thy Will, and many more. As a choreographer, Carlos' work has been seen in Footloose, Joseph, Timepieces, Consequences, Vampires Lesbians of Sodom, and others.

Carlos written works range from poems, short stories to plays. His most recent manuscripts include Brown as Water/Clear as Chocolate (a one-man show, winner of the 2002 ARTS AWARD for best new play), Proper Techniques for Raising a Child, Cat in a Bag, Mind Struggle, Esno White (already publish in an anthology of contemporary new plays), and Cardboard Boxes, which was adapted to video format and it is used as teaching material in elementary schools.

Carlos is currently working on a video adaptation of his one-man show as well as working on an indipendent film project.

Carlos received his B.A. Degree from Santa Clara University where he teaches Chicano Theatre, and his Masters of Arts Degree from University of New Mexico.
