Art, Associate in Arts

The Associate in Arts degree in Art will provide the student with a basic foundation in art principles and practices. Selected courses will include study in art history and studio practice in the creation of both two and three-dimensional works of art. The Art degree is designed for transfer to a four-year university or college, and for students who are interested in furthering skills in the visual arts.

Minimum Units Required: 60

General Education

Complete one of the following general education patterns:

1. San Joaquin Delta College Associate Degree General Education (AA-GE) pattern - 24 units
2. California State University General Education (CSU-GE) pattern - 40 units
3. Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum - CSU Version (IGETC-CSU) pattern - 37 units

Courses Within the Major

Complete a minimum of 18 units within the major; 3 units from Art History Electives, 9 units from Area 2, and 6 units from Area 3. All courses in the major must be complete with a grade of "C" or better or a "P" if the course is taken on a pass/no-pass basis.
