POLSC 003 - Introduction to Political Theory - Units 3

This course is an introduction to the field of political theory. The course surveys major themes in the history of political philosophy, including works by Aristotle, Plato, Augustine, The New Testatment, Aquinas, Machiavelli, Locke, Hobbes, Rousseau and Marx. Topics of discussion include how best to govern society, the quality and ethics of political leadership, the sources of law and governmental authority, notions of citizenship, obedience to government, liberty, equality, and the role of the state in economic relations.
