ELECT 032C - Multilayer Switching - Units 6

Prerequisites: ELECT 030D Advanced Electronic Network Systems each with a grade of "C" or better.

This course introduces students about the deployment of state-of-the-art campus Local Area Networks (LAN). Students will develop skills with Virtual LANs (VLAN), VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), inter-VLAN routing, multilayer switching, redundancy, Quality of Service (QoS) issues, security, and emerging LAN services. The course stresses the design, implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of switched and routed environments. This course prepares the students for industry professional certification such as the Cisco Certified Network Professional.
