Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE)
The CARE Program is part of the EOPS program and CARE students receive first level of EOPS services listed above. The CARE program supports single parents who are 18 years of age and older. In order to be eligible for CARE, students must also meet the following criteria:
- be the sole head of household;
- be the custodial parent of one child, 13 years of age or younger; and,
- receive (or their dependents receive) AFDC, TANF or CALWorks
CARE students also qualify to receive:
- CARE financial grants to assist with educational expenses
- Supplemental CARE grants to assist with child care expenses not funded by other agencies
- Supply and uniform grants for students enrolling in vocational technical programs of study requiring significant uniform, supply and equipment expenses
- College parking permit or regional bus pass
- Student campus meal service
- Campus and community resource referral
- Emergency auto repair reimbursement; and,
- A CARE curriculum of courses designed for single parents, that includes GUID 18A (Single Parents as Students: Co-dependency Issues); GUID 18B (Single Parents as Students: Campus and Community Resources) and GUID 18C (Single Parents as Students: Stress Reduction).
The CARE program works with the CalWORKs program at Delta College to ensure coordination of services.
