VOC NUR 005 - Intermediate Medical/Surgical Nursing - Units 9

Prerequisites: VOC NUR-004 Pediatric Nursing with a grade of "C" or better.

Limitations on Enrollment: Admission into the Vocational Nursing Program.

This course is designed to build upon the knowledge obtained from the previous courses outlined in the program. Emphasis is on providing nursing care of the client with common acute medical disorders of the cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, musculoskeletal, genitourinary, and gynecological systems within the acute hospital setting. Concurrent clinical practice is incorporated throughout the course to increase skill in prioritization and organization using the nursing process and critical thinking skills while reinforcing the concept of safe and effective care within the theoretical framework of wholism. Included within the course is a specialized rotation in mental health nursing. (CSU).
