HUM 005 - Southeast-Asian Cultures - Units 3
This course is designed to offer the student or participant an overview of the cultures of Southeast Asians living in America (Cambodians, Hmong, Laotians, Lao-Khmu, Vietnamese). Emphasis is placed onthe historical and geographical backgrounds of the native lands, and on the traditional cultural heritage -customs, beliefs, legends, folk songs, values, attitudes, foods, clothes, communication styles, etc. Even though the countries of origin share some common territorial or geographical borders, each of these groups are unique. Comparisons are utilized to bring out of highlight similarities and differences in order to promote cultural understanding, awareness, tolerance, and sensitivity. (UC, CSU)
