This course is designed as a study of the forms and ideas in American literature with an emphasis on an understanding of the values and traditions which shape contemporary thought (Mark Twain through contemporary authors). (UC, CSU, CAN ENGL 16, CAN ENGL SEQ C WITH BOTH ENG 42A & ENG 42B)
