Applied Science & Technology Division
Upon successful completion of the Basic Academy Institutions, the student demonstrates skills, knowledge, and training ofr employment as a California Youth Authority peace officer. The student demonstrates his or her ability to demonstrate ethical conduct; make judgments concerning the enforcement of the law without prejudice; apply the level of force that can lawfully be used by a youth guidance officer. Skills deomonstrated enable the student to recognize teh importance of initail and ongoing training in coping with dangerous situations found in a custodial setting; analyze and solve behavioral problems; write reports that conform to accepted professional standards of quality; recognize and understand concepts and terminology that is needed to understand the California criminal justice system.
