Bond Program
Bob Bentz, Jr

Bob BentzBob Bentz Jr., a fourth generation Stocktonian, attended Lincoln High School, Delta College and CSU Stanislaus.   A Vietnam Vet, Bob was drafted into the Army and served 3 years.   He was stationed in Vietnam from 1968-69. Always an avid supporter of Veterans rights and services, he retired from the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs, in January 2009, after a 34 year career.   In 2002, Bob was awarded the Leo Wurschmidt Veteran’s Customer Service Award. Later that year, he also received recognition as the Federal Employee of the Year in the “Service to the Community” category for his work in the San Francisco Bay Area. Bob’s support for Veterans also has a Delta College connection. He was the Veterans Representative for San Joaquin Delta College from 1974-80.

Bob’s public service includes: San Joaquin Grand Jury in 1983-84; Rough and Ready Island Restoration Advisory Board, 5yrs. service; and three years on the San Joaquin Valley Joint Unified Air Pollution Control District Citizen’s Advisory Committee.

Married to wife Geri since 1984, Bob is “proud of my wife and four children.” Bob would like to assist with specific goals during his tenure as a Citizens’ Oversight Committee member. “I would like to see greater emphasis on trade and job skills. It seems fewer and fewer people are prepared to focus on customer service despite the ongoing transition to a service economy.   The voter approved $250,000,000 Bond is evidence of our community’s commitment to reinforce the mission of San Joaquin Delta Community College.   I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee.   I am certain Delta College has given me more than I can return.”
