Tips for Using Canvas!

  • Use FireFox or Google Chrome- Canvas doesn't work as well with Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge
  • Going Mobile? - Canvas has a free app for Android and iPhone that many students like better than accessing Canvas through the internet browser on a phone.
  • Check for Feedback - Look for certain icons next to assignments in the gradebook that mean your instructor has left comments for you.  Check out this guide to Gradebook icons.
  • Set Your Notification Preferences - Want to know when the instructor posts new material or grades your assignment? Learn how to customize your Canvas notification preferences.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Do NOT take quizzes or exams using the mobile app. Not all quiz/exam settings or question types are compatible with the mobile app - taking a quiz or exam on the mobile app may negatively affect your score. The mobile app is best used for reviewing content and following up on notifications.
